Soft ice cream appeared in Japan in 1951. For the first time, a soft ice cream that was served in a corn cup was sold at a carnival mock shop sponsored by the Imperial Army held at Meiji Shrine. It was at this time that the general Japanese first ate ice cream and saw the freezer.

Soft ice cream was sold one after another at restaurants such as famous department stores and coffee shops, which became the foundation of the development of soft ice cream in Japan.

The first boom of soft ice cream has arrived

The soft ice cream that first appeared in Japan during the revival period quickly caught the hearts of people. The number of restaurants increased in the city due to the special demand economy of the Korean upheaval, and leading stores quickly focused on soft ice cream and bought a freezer for US military discount.

Soon after, it became available for sale in dining halls and famous restaurants of department stores, and with the development of domestic freezers and the sale of powdery and liquid mixes (raw materials for cream), the first boom ignited since 1954.

The second boom spread all over Japan

The World Expo held in Osaka in 1970 was a huge event with 60 million people. 200 soft ice cream freezers were also installed at this venue, and the appearance of people who went around the pavilion while eating soft ice cream was very eye-catching.

Then, the supermarkets, station buildings and shopping centers that started to be built one after another became a new market for soft ice cream and spread all over Japan.

And now, lots of kind of soft ice cream has now being sold around the country.
