STORY 3 : The long-awaited first guest is a Muslim drinking beer! ?

In the first article and the previous article,
I introduced two people and events that made me meet the world and intercultural communication!

So, from now on,
I'd like to introduce the experiences of cross-cultural communication I have experienced little by little!

First, after registering with Airbnb, the first is the long-awaited first guest “Indonesian Tata and Tara!”

If you think about it now,
it was an encounter with the first guest that symbolizes the subsequent laughter story and many encounters!

The first guest with a lot of anxiety

Two Indonesian people who made a reservation on the next day after took various photos on their smartphones,
translated them all by Google Translate, and uploaded them to Airbnb.

By the way, I was aiming for cross-cultural communication, so I didn't intend to receive Japanese people from the beginning.
So I didn't post Japanese information. Thanks to Airbnb, there were not 10 Japanese guests out of about 850 guests! ?

They booked for only one night, but they said, “Language will work itself out somehow!
The important thing is the mind!” But I wasn't really confident, so I came up with a good idea!

"Let's call a dad friend family who has studied abroad and cheat at a party!"

Airbnb can send a message in advance, so I had Google translated and sent them a message.

“You're memorable first guests, so I’ll host a party to commemorate!”

Then reply from Tata (male) who made the reservation

“I'm looking forward to it! But I’m Muslim!”

Oops! This is awful! I thought I would cheat at a party, but Muslims can't drink!

Non-beer = wheat juice?

For the time being, they picked up at the station and checked in.
At that time, I probably only remembered about 20 English words,
so I always communicated with Google on my smartphone.

And dad friend family gathered and the party started safely!
Dad friend who can speak English came and I was relieved!

I told Tata before the toast.

“You are Muslim and can't drink. So I bought this for you!”
"What is this?"
"This is non alcoholic beer!"
"???"
"This is beer taste juice!"
"???"

I tried and errored it, but I couldn't get it through.
But if you think about it well, beer without alcohol isn't beer, and what is beer-taste juice?
Moreover, there is no reason that such Japanese-specific drinks are conveyed in English.

Then Tata told me something with a grin.

"Shinji, I had a beer in Osaka yesterday, so it’s okay!"

Oh my god !!! I'm getting very confused!

“You said Tata was a Muslim!”
"Hmm… I'm Muslim, but I haven't signed that much with God."

I've never heard of that, don't know!

Actually, two people who are amazing, and an unknown world

So, the first cross-cultural communication party that started together safely.

I have a dad friend who will interpret me, so I enjoyed it to the end!

In the middle of the story, I was very amazed heard that Tata is creator of Hakuhodo Indonesia!

Furthermore, when I heard about Tara's work, I was surprised to heard “United Nations”!

The last thing that surprised me was that they weren’t lovers, just friends!
Whattttttt ! just friends and go on a trip abroad together! ? And the same room is fine! ?

For Showa-uncle like me, who was only thinking about popular girls couldn't understand the unknown world !

What is important is curiosity, which is real education!

So the party was finished successfully.
The next day, I took them to the first experience of Setsubun Festival and one-day hot springs!

Then, the little girl who was surprised at first suddenly asked me!

"Papa, what do you mean in English when it's cold?"

When I told him "It's Cold", my boy repeated "Cold! Cold!"

Then Tata and Tara praised "Amazing! Your English very good!", my boy just overjoyed!

I felt a pain at this time.

"What is important is curiosity, which is real education!"

The first foreign guest, Tata and Tara.
Each other was nervous at first, but they enjoyed together until the end and traveled to the next place.

Good start! And it continues one after another!

The next day, Tata posted first review for me!

What is this long article! ! !

When I read it in Google's translation, it seemed that they were really happy,
including parties and interaction with my daddy family! And gave me a perfect score! Lol

Thanks to Tata's first review, the first guest's first review was perfect, and after that,
my Airbnb is steadily gaining guest reviews, superhosts, and growing into an inn where laughing guests gather.

Furthermore, the relationship introduced by Tara, who works for the United Nations,
followed by a high school student homestay in Southeast Asia, which continues till now!

That's why my intercultural communication life announced the beginning of an eventful life.

Next time, I will introduce my second guest “Korean University Student”!

See you!
