STORY 13 : Speaking of cross-cultural communication, definitely thinking of parties!

This app was released in store in August. Currently, it is distributed to foreign guests come to Japan centering on the surrounding area of company and friends' guest houses, but even when Japanese people travel abroad, they will be able to read unreadable menus!

Of course everything is free! We update every week, so please download it if you like!

Well, last time, I introduced that I started accepting international student homestay at an international school called EF inspired by the Airbnb host!

The story of French high school student Cameron, “My father is MIX and I don't know what his nationality” was a shocking story for me who living only in Japanese.

By the way, EF has been staying in a homestay since then, and French and Swedish young people are coming for half a year from January next year! Half a year is now like a family! ?

Cameron also says he will come to Japan again with parents in the Olympic year , so next year will be even more fun!

Countless encounters and laughs!

Everyone has a nice smile !

I've never seen someone have a cross-cultural communication party and have a bad mood !

I met 3200 guests in 55 countries throughout the days of Airbnb and Guest House MGR, but I think I had a toast with more than half of 1500 guests.

Now that we have Facebook, there are so many guests who became friends and became repeaters at that time.

Good bye Google teacher!?

When I held a party, everyone was introducing themselves like this.

The foreigner in Japanese like “Watashinonamaeha ◯◯ desu. ◯◯◯◯ karakimashita”.

On the contrary, Japanese like "I'm Shinji. I work Airbnb host since one year ago"

All foreigners who come to Japan can basically speak their native language and English. We Japanese, including students, are mostly English.

But you know! ? Word can be solved in any way! ? Rather, it's more interesting that imagination works better than you don't communicate 100%!

When I first started Airbnb, I was always relying on Google teachers every day! I don't know how many times a day I used, and I checked the same sentence over and over again.

However, since about half a year later, when I knew that if I talked face-to-face with words that I already knew, my thoughts will be understood and then I no longer used Google!

Host TO Guest AND Guest TO Guest encounters

Of course I can get along with them by connecting with Facebook. Surely the two of the Czech Republic were also doing Airbnb in the capital Prague, so I told them to introduce their room in Shinji's room.

The interesting thing is that if you drink like this, everyone gets along well, so they often go to Tokyo sightseeing the next day!

I don't remember who they was, but the guest I met became a couple, and I heard a story about going on an overseas trip together the following year and getting engaged!

Intercultural communication life continues!

I'm back to work now for app development, so I can't host an Airbnb. However, even now, intercultural communication parties are held to accept international student homestay and repeat friends at home!

Basically, meeting with foreign guests is a lot of fun. But sometimes I am surprised because the culture and sense of values are too different!
Next time I will introduce you to those surprised guests!

See you again!
